Mrs. Ada Ruth Polk, 68, of Fulton died Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at Jackson – Madison County General Hospital.Services will be held at noon on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Marvin Mercer, Sr., officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlea Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.Ada Ruth Polk was born on April 22, 1947 in Fulton, KY to the late Ruben and Lela Pirtle of South Fulton, TN. She joined Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church at an early age where she faithfully served in different capacities until her health failed her in 2010. She was united in marriage to David Eddie Polk Senior. To their union was born two sons.  In 1973 she trained at Catholic Charity in Chicago, IL and became a License Practical Nurse and graduated in 1974. She immediately secured a position as a Pediatric Nurse at Chicago’s Michael Reese Hospital. In 1976 the family relocated to Los Angeles, CA where she worked at Cedars-Sinai Hospital until 1979. After their time in California, the family returned to Fulton, KY and she enrolled into the Registered Nurse Program at the University of Tennessee at Martin where she earned her RN License in 1982. After graduation, she worked at Volunteer General Hospital as the Supervisor of Nursing for more than 20 years. Mrs. Ada Ruth Polk leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, David Eddie Polk Sr., Fulton, KY; Two sons Jeffery E. Polk, Salem, OR, David E. Polk Jr., Fulton, KY; Seven Grandchildren Eric Polk (Tasha) Nashville, TN, Candashia Polk Nashville, TN, Monteia Winters Paducah, KY, LaDarrian Polk Clarksville, TN, David E. Polk III Hickman, KY, Allison. Three Great-Grandchildren; Five sisters Dorthy Pirtle, Fulton, KY, Peggy Bransford South Fulton, TN, Patricia Rose & Bessie Cawthon (Joe Mac), Fulton, KY, LaQuita Slayton & Felicia Lightner (Thomas) South Fulton, TN, a special friend Linda Reaves, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. She is proceeded in death by her parents and her granddaughter, Jazzmyne A.
