Mrs. Annette Marshella Pettigrew, 57, of South Fulton died Sunday, April 2, 2023, at her home.
Services will be held at noon on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Kingdom Harvest Church. Interment will follow in Greenlea Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
She was born on July 26, 1965, in Goldsboro, North Carolina to Robert Vanderford, Sr. and Christine Smith Vanderford.
Annette obtained her high school diploma, where she graduated in 1983 from South Fulton High School. She also obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in exceptional learning from Bethel University in 2011. She was employed by the Obion County School System as a schoolteacher for almost 20 years, she loved her job and her students, she was passionate about teaching.
She was a girl scout leader for Kentuckiana. Annette always loved helping people in need within her community and elsewhere. She was never hesitant to meet a stranger. She was a member of Bell’s Chapel CME Church in Fulton, KY where she was baptized at an early age. She was also a member of New Beginnings Church in Water Valley, KY where she was baptized again later in life.
Annette was preceded in death by her father, Robert Vanderford, Sr. and her paternal grandparents, Hattie “H.B.” Bethea Vanderford and Fayette Milton Vanderford, and maternal grandparents Milton and Elizabeth Smith.
She leaves to cherish her memories and is survived by, her mother, Christine Vanderford; her husband of 33 years, Thomas Andrew Pettigrew; two children: Kanesha Pirtle and Thomas Andrew Pettigrew, Jr., both of South Fulton, TN; one step daughter, Schree (Rick) Hughes of Norton, MA; four siblings: Robert Vanderford, Jr, Lisa shields of South Fulton,TN, Faith Moore of Paducah, KY, Milton Vanderford of Indianapolis, Indiana; stepmother, Beverly Vanderford; seven grandchildren: Shamiah Pirtle, Destinee and Daveon Pettigrew, Marie Pettigrew of South Fulton, TN, Quintarius Udley of Clarksville,TN, Jenna Pedranti and Tessa Hughes of Norton, MA; two additional sons she called her own, Jared Lorhorn and Travis Morris; a daughter-in-law, Shieka Sellers whom she loved; along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
