Mrs. Augusta “Penny” Taylor, 81, of Fulton died Sunday, January 23, 2011, at Haws Memorial Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday January 29, 2011, at South Fulton Baptist Church, with Elder Terry Lynn Taylor and Overseer Jeanette Taylor-McLin officiating. Burial will follow in Fulton’s Greenlea Cemetery. Interment will follow in Greenlea Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Friday from 12 p.m. until 8 at the funeral home.
She was born Oct. 20, 1929, in Hardeman County, TN daughter of the late Willie “Gus” and Mary “Bill” (Anderson) Rivers.
She was the widow of Johnny Henry Taylor and had been a seamstress at HIS in South Fulton and a bus driver for the Fulton County Head Start program in Kentucky. She was a member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in South Fulton.
Survivors include eight sons and three daughters-in-law, James Edward Taylor of Martin, James “Ray” and Betty Taylor of Jackson, Miss., Terry Lynn and Bobbie Taylor of South Fulton, Ike Taylor of Paducah, Ky., Mike and Diane Taylor of Marysville, Ohio, John Lee Taylor of Indiana, Willie J. Taylor of Nashville and Clarence Woods of Union City; five daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary Louise and John Hunter of Fulton, Betty Lue Horton of Martin, Gertie Mae Johnson of Union City, Carolyn Sue Taylor of Fulton and Jeanette and Kenneth Taylor-McLin of Dyersburg; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, Henry Lee “Boom Boom” Taylor and Tony Lynn Taylor.
