Mrs. Avanell Nunley, 92, of Martin passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2012, at Martin Health Care peacefully surrounded by family. She was a devoted wife and mother, enjoyed gardening, baking, family/friend gatherings, church events and most importantly serving her heavenly Father.
She was born October 5, 1920, in South Fulton daughter of Ernest & Bessie (Love) Stunson. She was a homemaker and a member of The Church of Christ Highway 45E.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ernest & Bessie Stunson; brothers Clarence Stunson, Clyde Stunson and sister Catherine Taylor.
She is survived by her loving husband R. C. Nunley and children, Robert (Robbin) Nunley, Thomasina (Will) Moore, Zonia Nunley-Callender, Larry (Melissa) Nunley and Gerald Nunley. Additional family members include 14 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Mabel Dozier, Josie Jackson and Bernice Stunson, brothers-in-law A.V. Nunley and Hoover Nunley and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2012, at The Church of Christ Hwy 45, in South Fulton with Graham McGill officiating. Interment will follow in Parham Cemetery in Martin. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Old Fulton Road Church of Christ in Martin.
