Mr. Benjamin Charles Thomas, 50, of McKenzie died Monday, April 22, 2024, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Church In Paris (CIP).
Benjamin Charles Thomas was born on May 27, 1973. He was the only son of Edward and Georgia Lee Thomas. He professed his faith in Christ at an early age and attended Johnson Temple CME Church throughout his teenage years.
He graduated from McKenzie High School in 1991. He attended Tennessee State University for two years until he decided to follow his true passion, barbering. He attended Jett College of Barbering in Memphis, TN, where he graduated as a Master Barber.
Benjie was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend and in March of 1994, he became the proud father of his only daughter, Alyssa Thomas. In November of 2015, he became the proud grandfather of his only granddaughter, Londyn. He was a devoted and hands-on father and grandfather. His love for them knew no bounds and their love for him was just as boundless.
Benjie loved to be outdoors, whether it was walking, working out, riding his bike or just sitting on his front porch. He loved music, especially anything with drums. Benjie had a kind and pure heart. He loved helping others, especially children and the elderly. He would give you his last if he thought you needed it. He loved his cats, Rain and Socks (who he affectionately called Rat). He was a jokester and loved making people laugh. He was greatly loved by many and will be greatly missed.
He was proceeded in death by his father.
Along with his mother, daughter and granddaughter he leaves to cherish his memory, his loving sister, Evelyn Fuqua; nieces, Tara Thomas and Erika Dudley; great-nephews, Andrew Thomas II and Nathan Dudley (who he shared a very special bond with); his doting aunt, Marsha Townes; his very loyal friend/brother who stood by him from the beginning to the end, Tory Woodard; his dedicated and loving cousin, Anita Newbill; his childhood sweetheart and mother of his daughter, Tiffany Gilbert; 2 great-great nephews; 1 great-great niece and a host of cousins and friends.
