Mrs. Bertha Mae Fitzgerald, 100, of Paris died Monday, January 12, 2015, at Henry County Healthcare. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2015, at Rawls Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wilma Pearson officiating. Interment will follow in Caton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Mrs. Bertha Mae Haynes entered into this earthly life on February 27, 1914, in Henry County, Tennessee to her late parents, Jessie and Linda Curtis Haynes. She was educated in the Henry school system. She was a member of the Henry Pentecostal Church and attended church faithfully where she enjoyed singing in the choir as well as performing solos. She was married on November 28, 1931, to her late husband, Barney Fitzgerald, and was blessed with him for fifty-two years when he died. They raised one daughter and two sons. She loved cooking and always enjoyed working. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a stepson, Robert Earl Fitzgerald and siblings, Will Jackson Haynes, R. L. Haynes, Willie R. Haynes, Harvey Anderson, Hafford Junior Anderson, Skylae Haynes and Arthur Haynes. Left to cherish her legacy of love are her daughter, Vanessa Skaggs of Atlanta, Georgia; grandson, Jacob Fitzgerald; two granddaughters, Linda Kearney and Gennifer Perkins; a brother, Nathaniel Anderson; eleven great grandchildren, Jacob Fitzgerald, Jacob Fitzgerald, Jr., Donovan Fitzgerald, Tori Freeland, Sha’Maya Fitzgerald, Jeila Fitzgerald, Alesia Fitzgerald, Makiya Perkins, Isaiah Perkins, Royce Kearney and Jamison Fitzgerald and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
