Mrs. Bertha Washum, 79, of Paris died Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at her residence. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Quinn Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Paris, where she was a member. The Rev. Bobby Carter will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be after noon Saturday at the church. She was born April 16, 1932, in Paris, she was the daughter of Roy and Della Milton Allen, both deceased. She was married on March 14, 1948, to Rev. Robert D. Washum, who was a gospel minister. He preceded her in death. She leaves four sons: Robert (Brenda) Washum of Morganfield, Ky., Charles Ray Washum of Paris, Jerry (Patricia) Washum of Peoria, Ill., and LaKeith (Trena) Washum of Nashville; a special nephew: Robert Copeland, who grew up in the Washum home; one brother: David Allen of Los Angeles; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She also was preceded in death by a son: Randall Eugene Washum; a grandson: Ray Jackson; seven sisters: Christina Clark, Willie Mae Puckett, Roxie Allen Haynes, Margaret and Betty Allen, Ezell Payne and Lizzie Copeland; and four brothers: Hurley, William and Booker T.
