Mrs. Bette Easley, 85, of Memphis formerly of Union City, died Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at Methodist Hospice Resident in Memphis. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2016, at McCabe United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday at the church.
Bette Jane Davis Easley was born December 30, 1930 to Charles Leroy and Nellie Brooks Davis, one of three siblings, sister Ruth and a brother Belton.
Bette Jane attended elementary & high school in Jackson Tennessee and graduated from Lane College in Jackson Tennessee. She worked in the Kentucky School System until she retired.
Bette Jane married the best man for her, Manuel Easley he proceeded her in death January 2012. They were married 49 years.
Bette Jane loved music and was a member of the choir and piano player when needed at her church McCabe United Methodist. She served in different capacities at the church and one of her favorite was working with the United Methodist Women's Group.
She is survived by a son Gregory (Doris) Davis Sr., (died December 22, 2016); a grandson, Gregory Davis, Jr. and a great grandson, Gregory Davis, III; a niece Nell (Michael) Blake; three nephews, Michael Hines, Gary Hines and Jerome Hines; a great niece, Erica Hines; two brothers-in-law, Benjamin (Mildred) Easley and Coris Easley and a sister-in-law, Doris Bowers.
