Betty Jean Evans

Mrs. Betty Jean "Bet" Evans,86, of Sharon died Sunday, July 27, 2025, at her home.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Sharon. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church.

She was born on December 6, 1938, in Dresden, TN to the late Joseph and Kate Mosley McDonald.

She attended Weakley County Training School. “Bet” was married to the late James Thomas Evans. To this union six children were born. She was a faithful member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Sharon. She served faithfully as an usher until her health would no longer allow her to serve.

Her memories will forever be cherished by her children, Debra (Gilberto) Rivera of Jackson, TN, Linda (Walter) Payne of Winder, GA, Joe (Glenda) Evans of Corinth, MS, Jackie (Dennis) Evans of Union City, TN, Gloria (James) Pope and Stanley (Marcia) Evans both of Martin, TN; a bonus son, Dr. Kerry (Dr. Myrtie) Mays of Cicero, IN; grandchildren, Elisha (Marvelle) Mays, Anibal (Michelle) Vasquez, Chanteria Puryear, Dr. Jason (Justin) Payne, Markei (Deondra) Guy, Noel (Carol) Vasquez, Kiara Evans, Virgilio Rivera, Kyler (Lady Marie) Rivera, Joshua (Ashley) Payne, Stefon (Jazsmine) Evans and Tevin Evans; great grandchildren, Landon Mays, Jaslyne Vasquez, Ella Reyes, Rylan Addison, Etienne Puryear, Julianna Vasquez, Mya Vasquez, Nikko Vasquez, Camden Payne, Janiyah Evans, Isaiah Evans, Zion Evans, Sariya Evans and Maverick Guy; a sister, Bobbie Jean McDonald; two special nieces, Annie Jones and Shelia McDonald; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents she is preceded in death by her siblings, Bennie “Ben” McDonald, Joe McDonald , William “Big Mac” McDonald, Maybelle “Duck” McDonald, Bonnie Crutchfield , Alice Faye McDonald, Ora Lee Scott, Mary Frances “Chicken” McDonald, Raymond “Wheat” McDonald, Jimmie “Jim” McDonald and Verbal Lee “Lil Mac” McDonald.
