Mrs. Betty Jean Gossett, 81, of Hickman died Saturday, March 18, 2023, Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Paducah.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
Betty Jean (Holloway) Ervin Gossett was born on September 2, 1941, to the late Ora Lee Wilson Ervin and the late Theodore Holloway. As a small child her mother unite in marriage with the late Cornelius Ervin, her stepfather.
Betty attended both Corner Stone and Lake Chapel church in Hickman Bottom. Later in life she joined Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Hickman. She was united with Willis Gossett on June 1, 1960, and together they had 4 children, Tina, Craig, Troy, and Dawan. Later in life another child was born, Bridgett, with John Jennings.
She leaves to cherish her memory her 4 children, Sophia Gossett of Cordova, TN; Willis (Carrie) Gossett of Hickman, KY; Wendell (Tina) Gossett of Hickman, KY; and Bridgett Roberson of Paducah, KY, her special Aunt Ann Byrd of Toledo Ohio, seven sisters: Geraldine Holloway of Indianapolis, IN, Ora (Earl) Pleasant, Mary Ware of Chicago, IL. Joyce Whittington of Hickman, KY, Shirley (James) Sanders of Jackson, TN, Ruby Edwards of Chicago, IL, and Barbara Ervin-Long of Jackson, TN, fifteen grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She is proceeded in death by her son Craig Lamont Gossett, four sisters, Ida May Ervin, Rose Holloway, Louise Holloway, and Peggie Sue Holloway. Four brothers, Henry Lee Ervin, Jewel (JB) Ervin, Theodore Holloway, James Holloway, and her grandson Sterlin Higgins.
