Bobby Joe Phelps

Mr. Bobby Joe Phelps, 64, of Martin died Thursday, August 10, 2023, at his home.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 18, 2023, at Miles Chapel Church.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the church.

Bobby Joe Phelps was born on December 25, 1958, to the late Bobby and Gladys Phelps. He was a native of Obion County. While growing up he spent a lot of time with his family. His parents later moved to Weakley County (Martin). I believe we all know about the dead end ally street. He confessed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour and was baptized at an early age. Once becoming a grown man, Bobby would take on a job that would allow him to travel and live up North, and then come back down to the South.  Bobby enjoyed playing sports, and he always bragged to his children about how he could handle the grill and the stove. He would also talk about how he loved his church (Miles Chapel), and how he was grateful for Mr. Bob Smith getting him there.

Bobby took ill and would struggle to breathe at times. But he would always try and push himself to do. It was as if rest wasn’t an option when things still needed to get done.

Bobby is survived by his children: Bradley (Shawntae) Phelps, Nichole (Alonzo) Daniel Sr., Katine Donald, Stephen Cardin, and Trey Tipton. He also leaves behind his wife, Sharon Phelps, his living siblings: Louranda (Thomas) Stubblefield, Gary (Darlene) Phelps, Jaqueline Brown, and Ginna (Seal) Hickman. Michael Ray Phelps and Bobbie Jean Powell (Deceased).

Lastly, he had seventeen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and a host of Aunts, Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins. Bobby Phelps will be dearly missed. Take comfort in knowing that there is no more suffering and no more pain. Cherish and hold on to the memories that he made with you. Cast all your cares upon the Lord for he cares for you.
