Mr. Bobby Joe Slayton, 54, of South Fulton died Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at Murray-Calloway County Hospital.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 1, 2013, at Jacksonville Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. James Watford officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlea Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home and also on Sunday from 11 a.m. until time of service at the church.
Bobby Joe Slayton was given the breath of life on April 22, 1959, in Union City, Tennessee and answered his call into God’s Heavenly arms on August 27, 2013. Bobby was a career veteran of the United States Army for which he proudly served his country for twenty great years. Upon matriculation into the civilian job market, he successfully managed and co-managed a total of three Taco Bell restaurants. Both crew and loyal customers can attest that his strong ethic of courtesy, patriotism, and discipline; all obtained via the Army, transitioned into a professional legacy that was absolutely dynamic.
He is survived by his beloved wife of thirty-five years Laquita Slayton of South Fulton, TN, daughters DeAndria Slayton of Louisville, KY, DeReka Slayton of South Fulton, TN, loving grandson Jalen Cross of South Fulton, TN, mother Martha Helen Slayton of Union City, TN, siblings Willie (Deborah) Slayton, Jr. of Germany, Shirley (Jerry) Carter of Union City, TN, Doris Slayton of Union City, TN, Jerry (Juanita) Slayton of Union City, TN, and Joe Mac (Bessie) Cawthon, of South Fulton, TN. Moreover, he is survived by cousins Thomas (Felicia) Lightner of South Fulton, TN who he referred to as a devoted brother and sister, Aunt Adelle Dunlow of Fulton, KY, Uncle and Aunt Bobby (Anita) Barton of Marietta, GA, sibling in-laws Dorothy Pirtle, Peggy (Billy) Bransford, Ada (Eddie) Polk, Patricia Rose, and a host of nieces and nephews. Last but certainly not least, Bobby leaves behind an amazing military family, a loyal crew from Taco Bell, Inc., and a host of children from around the globe that he and his wife Laquita cherished as their unofficial adoptees.
Bobby is preceded in death by his father Willie Slayton, Sr. and in-laws Ruben & Lela Pirtle.
