Mr. Bobby Woody, 82, of Union City died Friday, March 24, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Vine Street Church of Christ. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday at Rawls Funeral Home Chapel. Pallbearers will be Bryan Wilkins, Kamryn Simpson, Kaleb Simpson, Bobby Woody III, Kayla Woody and Keria woody. Captain Bobby Leroy Woody was born on December 12, 1934, at the Debow family residence in Union City, TN. He was the son of James Woody and Theresa Mae Debow. He was raised in Union City by his mother, Theresa M.(Debow) Hudson and his grandparents, Alfred Debow and Callie Elaine (Sneed) Debow. He entered the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was awarded many medals for combat bravery and valor. After retiring from Shelby County Sheriffs Department and the Navy and upon the release of the movie Red Tails, he gave many presentations to the local community on the Tuskegee Airmen, focusing on his cousin Charles Debow, a Squadron Leader. He leaves behind his former wife, Gregoria Maria Woody; his children, Teresa B. Woody, Tomas B. Woody, Bobbie G. Woody, Angelina Woody, Jovana Woody, Anwar Woody, Bobby Woody Jr., Krystle Woody and Dante Woody; numerous grandchildren; a sister in law, Johnnie M. (Milligan) Woody; his nieces and nephews, Theresa Woody, Bobbie Woody, Sylvia Woody, Ellis Woody, Jr., John Woody, Brendah Debow and Treila Debow; a cousin, Alfred Debow and a long time special friend, Ruby Parson.
