Ms. Brenda Dick, 67, of Martin died Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at Alive Hospice in Nashville. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 15, 2014, at Old Fulton Road Church of Christ. Interment will follow in Parham Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of service at the church. Brenda Elizabeth Shanklin Dick was born September 2, 1947, in Martin, Tennessee to Carnell and Arista Shanklin. She was one of thirteen children. In 1959, at the age of twelve, she gave her life over to God at Old Fulton Road Church of Christ in Martin. She graduated in 1965 from Weakley County Training School. She moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1994, where she moved her membership to Camp Creek Church of Christ and was a faithful member. She resided in Atlanta for twenty years until illness brought her back to Tennessee at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. She was a mother, a grandmother, an aunt and recently became a great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her mother, Arista Shanklin; her father, Carnell Shanklin; a sister, Adrum Shanklin; a brother, Calvin Shanklin; her husband, Charles E. Williams; grandparents, R. F. and Adell Nunley and Herbert and Lula Shanklin and other uncles, aunts and cousins. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Alexis (Nikki) Payne, Charles “Joey” (Dawn) Williams and Ronald “Rocky” Williams; nine grandchildren, Yalexis “Brentai” Payne, Randzanika “Nika” Payne, Randall Payne, Jr., Jalessa Payne, Kayla Williams, Charles “Jo Jo” Williams, Jr., Joseph Williams, Kristin Williams and Ronald Williams, Jr.; a niece/goddaughter, London Shanklin; one great granddaughter, Loyalty Unique Fair; brothers and sisters, Donald (Rose) Shanklin of Nashville, Tennessee, Frank (Margie) Shanklin of Knoxville, Tennessee, Robbie (the late Charles) Shanklin-Clark of Nashville, Tennessee, Johnny (Vera) Shanlin of Martin, Tennessee, Luratta Shanklin of Martin, Tennessee, Dian (the late John) Shanklin- Holliman of Nashville, Tennessee, Ronnie (Cheryl) Shanklin of Atlanta, Georgia, Katherine (David) Flannigan of Fulton, Kentucky, Jerome Shanklin of Nashville, Tennessee and Deweslyn Shanklin of Paducah, Kentucky; a half sister, Sandra Tansil and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, adopted family members and friends.
