Cecil Dunlap, a cherished figure in his community and a devoted family man, passed away on August 9, 2025, at the Obion County Nursing Home. He was born on July 6, 1928, in Holly Springs, Mississippi, and lived a life marked by dedication, service, and an undeniable zest for life.
Cecil retired after an impressive 33-year career with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., earning respect and admiration from colleagues and friends alike. Known for his wit and classy demeanor, he had a fondness for pretty and shiny automobiles, reflecting his impeccable style. Outside of his professional life, he was an exceptional singer, captivating many with his talent.
His commitment to faith and community was evident through his service as a deacon. Cecil began his ministry at Lily Missionary Baptist Church and later continued at Mount Herman Missionary Baptist Church, where he became a respected and beloved member of the congregation.
Cecil is survived by a loving family that includes his daughters, Juanita Holden, Susie Walker, Gloria Jean Wright, and Denedra McIntyre; his son, PerSean Dunlap; along with 36 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Arthur and Cora Dunlap; his son, Christopher Dunlap; his great-grandson, Elijah Holder; and his siblings, JC, Robert, Arthur, Dave Dunlap, Louise Faulkner, and Norma Walker.
A visitation will be held on August 16, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at Mount Herman Missionary Baptist Church, located at 330 Carr St., Union City, TN 38261. All who knew Cecil are invited to come together to celebrate a remarkable life filled with love, laughter, and rich memories that will endure in the hearts of his family and community.
