Mr. Charles "Pee Wee" Adkisson, 64, of Trezevant died Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2015, at Mt. Ararat Missionary Baptist Church Family Life Center with Bishop C.E. Pipkin officiating. Interment will follow in the church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday at the church and on Saturday at 12 p.m. until time of service in the family life center.
Charles Edward Adkisson, affectionately known as “Pee Wee”, was born on December 5, 1950, to the union of Charles and Louella Adsisson, Sr. of Trezevant, Tennessee.
Charles “Pee Wee” accepted Christ at an early age and united with Mt. Arrarat Baptist Church in Trezevant, Tennessee. There he remained a faithful, dedicated and hard-working member until his death. Upon graduating from Trezevant High School, Charles enlisted in the Marine Corp and served in the Vietnam Conflict.
Charles was blessed with the gift of cooking bar-b-que. This was his passion and he utilized his gift at any given opportunity. He loved raising a garden and sharing the produce with others. “Pee Wee” would give to anyone in need and feed anyone who came by.
He was united in holy matrimony to Marilyn “Bonnie” Hurt on July 2, 1994.
Charles leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of twenty-one years, Marilyn “Bonnie” Adkisson; five daughters, Keshia (Dempsey) Barnes, Stephanie (Jonathan) Adkisson Riley, Tera (Deymon) Perryman, Kimmeca (Patrick) Harris and Robin Douglas; five sons, Elder Gerome (Bridgetta) Crayton, Chauncey (Keshia) Adkisson, Corey (Samoya) Williams, Minister Chris (Kim) Williams and Norval (Sasha) Hendrix, Jr.; three brothers, Pastor Richard (Linda) Adkisson, Chester Adkisson and Casey (Jacqueline) Adkisson; five sisters, Frankie (Grady) Jones, Geneva (Jerry) Melton, Marcie Adkisson, Laura Ann Adkisson and Allison Marie (Michael) Dalton; thirty-two grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, family and friends. He also leaves one brother-in-law, Johnny (Michelle) Hillsman; two-sisters-in-law, Cassandra (Gerald) Flinn and Lisa Hurt; one uncle, John (Dorothy) Adkisson; two god brothers, Bishop C. E. (Sandra) Pipkin and Eric Harris and two god-sisters, Margaret (Leon) White and Brenda Williams.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Louella Adkisson; two sisters, Linda and Donna Adkisson and one brother, Dale Adkisson.
