Mr. Charles Edward Boykin, 78, of Union City died Saturday, June 11, 2011, at his residence. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church with Rev. A. E. McCadney officiating. Interment will be in East View Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church. He was born in Humboldt on October 3, 1932, he was a son of the late Alexander and Mary Emily Frierson. He was married to Lucille Miller Boykin she survives. He was a member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church. He was employed with Mosier & Jones, McAdoo Building Supply, the railroad and Central Elementary School. He leaves also a son: Charles Boykin, Jr. of Union City; four daughters: Willie Mae (Rev. Phillip) Sanders of Clinton, KY, Sandra Bryson of Humboldt, Charlene Boykin of Union City and Mamie Lee Turner of Nashville; nine grandchildren, Frank Boykin, Cornelius McElrath, Phillip Sanders, Jr., Treon McElarth, Deonnie Boykin, Terrance Boykin, Mandi Scurry, Lee Turner II and David Turner; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great- granddaughter; four sisters: June Pack of Milan, Betty Jean Parchman and Mary Frances (David) Hunt both of Humboldt and Morstina (Lynn) Shutes of Fruitville; a brother: Herman Glenn of Danville, IL; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
