Charles Edward Dickerson, affectionately known as “Hookie,” passed away peacefully at his home on August 22, 2026, at the age of 95. Born on July 8, 1931, in Hickman, Kentucky, he was the beloved son of the late James Thomas Dickerson and Esther Allen Dickerson.
A man of great dedication, Mr. Dickerson worked for many years on the railroad and also held a position at a grocery store, taking pride in his hard work and commitment. He was a devoted member of Jacksonville Freewill Baptist Church in South Fulton, Tennessee, and cherished his family above all, a testament to his loving nature.
Preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruth Jones Dickerson, and children, Charles E. Dickerson, Jr., David (Vickie) Dickerson, and Mark Dickerson, as well as siblings Helen Davis, Al Dickerson, Rob Dickerson, Sr., and James Dickerson, his memory will be cherished by many.
He is survived by his children, Glenn (Willie Mae) Dickerson, Jacqueline Sneed, Clarence (Rochelle) Dickerson, and stepchildren, Joyce Williams McGhee, Ronnie Williams, and Ronesia (Jewel) Martin. His legacy continues through a numerous family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service to honor his life will be held on August 29, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at McPhearson-Rawls Funeral Home in South Fulton. May his memory bring comfort and peace to all who knew and loved him.
