Mr. Charles Guthrie, 83, of Nashville formerly of Paris died Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 18, 2022, at Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at Parkers Crossroads. A walk-through visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Thursday at Rawls Funeral Home Chapel.
Charles Edward Guthrie, son of the late Rev. Clarence L. Guthrie & Jewel Annette Guthrie was born in Paris, Tennessee on August 28, 1938. Charles was educated at Central High School in Paris, TN and went to Tennessee State University, Nashville, Tennessee and was commissioned into the United States Air Force where he retired as Lieutenant Colonel. He is a proud member of Omega Psi Phi, Mighty Rho Psi Chapter.
He has two siblings, Clarence L. Guthrie, Jr. (deceased) and Constance M Graves of Albany, NY. He had two children, Dr. Wanda Guthrie-Richardson (Dr. Reginald B. Richardson, Jr.) of Charlotte, North Carolina and Monica Guthrie-Davis (Marcus O. Davis) of Gardena, California. To those children, there are five grandchildren, 2nd Lt. Reginald Barnette Richardson, III, USMC, Skyler Andre Richardson, Camille Sabrina Richardson, Sebastian Charles Richardson, and Marsalis Guthrie Davis.
