Charles Smith

Mr. Charles James Smith, 77, of Union City died Friday, June 7, 2024, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Greater Bethel Church Of God In Christ. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at noon on Saturday at the church.

He was born on July 10, 1946, in Hickman Kentucky. To the late Milton Smith Senior and Elizabeth Morris Smith. Where he spent most of his years growing up in Woodland Mills, Tennessee.

He graduated from Miles high school in Union City, Tennessee. Later to wedlock with the love of his life, Mary Graham, Smith. Being married for over 50 years they had one daughter Contina Smith and two grandchildren Zakhari and Corion

After retiring from Goodyear of 30 years of service He worked again at Tyson for five years. He devoted himself to the ministries at Greater Bethel where he served faithfully. Even though his health was deteriorating, he made sure at the house of God to devote himself fully.

He leaves his family to cherish his memories, Mary Smith, wife) Catina Smith daughter), Grandsons Zakhari Daonte Smith and Corion Jermayne Smith, Granddaughter, Mercedes Williams, Marlon Smith (son) and Whitney Smith (daughter). He will also be cherished by eight sisters and brothers, Carolyn (Bob)Tate Ypsilanti, Michigan; Terry Smith, Sr., of Union City; Rinda Jenkins of Union City; Christine Vanderford, and Mary (George) McFarland of South Fulton, Tennessee; Lillian Kynard of Toledo, OH; Ray (Joyce) Smith of Hickman, Kentucky; Gaynell (Sand) Wakefield of Munford, Tennessee and a host of nieces, nephew, and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Shirley Briggs, Linda Hutch , Milton Smith, Jr., Sarah Olds , and Elder Willie Edd Smith .
