Charlie Lewis Smith

Mr. Charlie Lewis Smith, 72, of Hickman husband of Carolyn Smith died Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at Select Specialty Hospital in Nashville.

Charlie Lewis Smith was born on March 20, 1948 in Hickman, Kentucky to James Edward and Edna Smith . He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: James Edward Smith, Jr . May 15, 2020, Jimmy Smith and Bruce Smith.

Charlie was employed by SGL Carbon and the Kentucky State Road Department until his retirement. He was a “jack of all trades”. He enjoyed working on cars, small engines, lawn care and gardening. But his most important hobby was caring for his grandchildren and his great grands. Of this, he never got tired of.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted and loving wife of 36 years, Carolyn Smith; his children: Joel Mayes, Vanessa Elam, Mark Pritchard, Lewis Edward Smith, Victor Smith, Dyrell (LaTosha) Smith, Stevie Smith, Karen (James) Yandal, Charles Buntyn and LaShunda Miles; his siblings: Mae (Greg) Wilson of Hickman KY, Edna Gordon of Westland, MI, Rosie Smith and Kathryn Walker both of Toledo, OH, George Barry (Gail) Smith of LaCenter, KY and Michael (Melissa) Smith of Water Valley, KY; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
