Clara Frances Hamilton

Mrs. Clara Hamilton, 77, of Martin died Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at her home.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at McCabe United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Parham Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday at the church.

Clara was born July 14, 1944, in Primm Springs, Tennessee (Hickman County), to the late Ms. Frankie L. Jones and Mr. William Edward Dobbins of Nashville, Tennessee. She began her education at Church Training School in Primm Springs and moved to Martin in 1952 and continued her education at Weakley County Training School.

Clara accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age, and in 1975 she became a servant in the House of the Lord at McCabe United Methodist Church, where she was very active until her health failed her. Her mission was always to help others, so that her living would not be in vain. She was a member of the Senior & Spirits of Love Choir, Sunday School Superintendent & teacher, communion steward, United Methodist Women, and McCabe Food Pantry. She was a member of the Martin/Weakley County Branch of the NAACP, where she held numerous positions. Always willing to assist, council, & serve whenever called upon.

Shortly after moving to Martin, Clara met and fell in love and married the man of her dreams, Mr. James Dalton Hamilton, Sr. To this union five beautiful children were born.

She leaves to cherish her fond memories, her husband of 60+ years, James D. Hamilton, Sr., 2 sons: Rev. James D. Hamilton, Jr (Diedre) from Paris, Tn., Roland Dwayne Hamilton, Martin, Tn. and 3 daughters: Cheryl Hamilton, Martin, Tn, Anita F. Hayslett (Jerry) Martin, Tn, Chevelle Lewis (David Earl) from Knoxville, Tn. 2 daughters at heart: Linda Carmichael, Alexandria,Va & Tonyua Vonner, Martin,Tn,1 brother: Gene Jones (Shirley) of Martin, a brother Joe Lloyd of Martin, Tn who preceded her in death. 1 sister, Kathy Vincent, Martin,Tn. 3 sisters at heart: Barbara Bell (Donnie), Bossier City, Louisiana, Wilsie Moorehead, Oklahoma City, OK., Martha Bobbitt of Trenton, Tn., Earnestine & Martha Ann Dobbins of Nashville, Tn. 2 dear Sisters in-law: Shirley Jones (Gene) and Lula Evans (Payton). 16 Grandchildren, & 16 Great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
