Claude Harrison Young

Mr. Claude Harrison Young, 90, of Tyler, TX formerly of Paducah, KY died Tuesday, January 04, 2011, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Parkersburg, WA. Services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, January 15, 2011, at Ninth Street Church of Christ with Brothers Mark Rowe and Graham McGill officiating. Entombment will follow in Maplelawn Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church. He was born July 16, 1920, in Henderson County, Tennessee, to the late Virch Harrison and Adlena Frye Young. He married the former Sue Nell Clifford on February 4, 1939. She died June 15, 2010. He was a member of the Ninth Street Church of Christ. Later he began to preach and served as pulpit minister for churches in Mayfield, KY, Martin, TN, Carbondale, IL and Mounds, IL. He owned his own construction company and later taught masonry for the Federal Job Corp in Morganfield, KY. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Palestine and Douglas Howie, Sr. of Terrell, TX; two grandchildren, Gladys Michelle (Jawara) Busby of Houston, TX and Dr. Douglas W. Howie, Jr. of Parkersburg, WV; three sisters, Lucille Young Baker of Earlington, KY, Varmilla Patrick of Memphis, TN and Mattie Mickens of Henderson, TN; brother, Member C.
