Mr. Cleve “Meat Man” Long, Jr., 81 of Union City died Sunday, April 10, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2011, at Rawls Funeral Home Chapel with Graham McGill officiating. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday.
He was born Dec. 4, 1929, in Montgomery County, son of the late Sally (Haynes) and Cleve Long Sr. He had been employed at the former Reelfoot Packing Co. in Union City and the former Morning Star Nursery in Rives and was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Korean War.
He is survived by a significant other, Jackie Cannon of Union City; five sons and his daughter-in-law, Damonte Long of Union City, Billy and Yolanda Long, Dwight Long and Cleve Long III, all of Clarksville, and Roosevelt Long of Murfreesboro; six daughters, Wanda Long, Regina Long, Tammie Stone, Voyanda Long, Renae Long, all of Clarksville, and Sherita Long of Mt. Juliet; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his sister, Ida Bowen of Clarksville.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Dexter Long and William Long.
