Mr. David Thomas Royster, 71, of Martin died Friday, November 24, 2017, at Veterans Affair Medical Center in Marion, IL.Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 1, 2017, at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Jackie Thomas and Rev. Leroy Brent officiating. Interment will follow in Mound City National Cemetery in Mound City, IL.Visitation will begin at noon on Friday at the church.David Thomas Royster was born on January 6, 1946, in Martin, TN to John Daniel and Ida Florence (Phelps) Royster. He departed this life on Friday, November 24, 2017, at Veteran Affair Medical Center in Marion, IL.He was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he sang in the choir, a graduate of Weakley County Training School, a United States Air Force Veteran during the Vietnam War where he received many certificates and medals for his service and a retired tool and die worker for Hubbell Lighting. He is survived by his devoted care giving wife; Dorothy Royster of Martin, TN; his mother, Ida Florence Royster of Martin, TN; his children; David Keith (Dr. Patricka) Royster of Memphis, TN, Kimberly Royster of Atlanta, GA, Howard Turner of Detroit, MI, Journee Turner of Martin, TN, Kelvin Turner of Martin, TN, Craig (Michelle) Turner of Fredericksburg, VA and Joseph Boyd of Martin, TN; his siblings, James Arthur (Sandra) Royster of CA and Johnnie Mae Martin of Martin, TN; twelve grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
