David "Swit" Abbott

Mr. David Douglas "Swit" Abbott, 69, of Savannah formerly of Union City died Friday, November 4, 2022, at Hardin Medical Center. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Rawls Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. David was born on November 25, 1952, to the late James “Boots” and Minnie (Partee) Abbott. David served honorably in the United States Marine Corps for four years. After which, he worked for many years as a farmer. In his younger days, David loved to hunt; but as he grew older, he loved to sit back and watch the Rifleman, Wagon Train, or any other cowboy movie he could find. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed laughing and having a good time. David leaves to cherish his memories three sisters, Jo Ann Frison of Tiptonville, TN; Nannie Thomas of Columbus, KY; and Annie Jones of Clinton, KY; two brothers, Billy Abbott of Tiptonville, TN and Robert “Bud” Abbott of Columbus, KY; two aunts Willie Mae “Aunt Fat” Davis and Mary “Liz” Thomas. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: William Earl “Red” Abbott and Hershel “Bubba” Coleman.
