Donald Purvine

Hickman, KY

Mr. Donald Purvine, 66, died Monday, February 16, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Johnson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Hickman City Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at noon on Saturday at the church.

Donald (Donnie) Gene Purvine was born on September 4, 1959, to Willie Mae Ford and James Purvine in Phillippy, Tennessee. He passed away peacefully at his residence on the evening of February 16, 2026. 

Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Mae Ford and James Purvine; his siblings, Roy Purvine and James Clifford Depriest of Philippi, TN; Gloria Purvine and Vernell Maxwell of Allentown, Pennsylvania; Denise Purvine of Tiptonville, TN; and Willie Ann Pierce of Hickman, Kentucky. 

He graduated from Lake County High School and subsequently served five and a half years in the National Guard. Following his military service, Donnie worked at Morning Star Nursery in Union City, TN for 20 years, and then at Hanafee Brothers Sawmill in Troy, TN for another 20 years until his retirement. 

A long-time resident of Hickman, KY for over 45 years, Donnie was a dedicated father, partner, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend. He was passionate about sports and enjoyed engaging in a variety of athletic activities. Known for his kindness and strong work ethic, Donnie was deeply committed to his family and friends and found joy in making those around him happy. Despite health challenges, he maintained a positive outlook, often finding humor in difficult situations. His sense of humor and love for his family were vital sources of strength throughout his life.

Originally a member of St. John #2 in Tiptonville, TN, Donnie also frequently attended Brooks Chapel Kingdom Harvest in South Fulton, TN, under Pastor Jessie Webb. 

He is survived by his fiancee, Deloris Crumble of Hickman, KY; his daughters, Alice Warren of Union City, TN, and La'Vetta Crumble of Fulton, KY; his grand-daughters, Ayana Cox of Hickman, Kentucky, Arieyanna Cox of Union City, Tennessee, and LaBreah Crumble of Fulton, KY; his great-grandson, Ja'Vonni Cox of Hickman, KY; his sister, Ethelene Span of Allentown, PA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Donnie also leaves behind a close friend, Albert Mackins of Hickman, KY.
