Dorothy Mai Alexander

Mrs. Dorothy M Alexander, 89, of Henry died Monday, September 12, 2016, at Weakley County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 17, 2016, at Rawls Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Dorothy Mai “Mary” Alexander was born in Henry, Tennessee to her late parents, George and Nell Walls Milam, on May 12, 1927. Dorothy attended Caton School in Henry, Tennessee. She was a member of Coles Chapel C. M. E. Church. Dorothy married the late Homer Alexander who preceded her in death on October 21, 1990. To this union, one blessed child was born. She worked at the Shirt Factory in Paris, Tennessee and retired from Gaines Manufacturing Company in McKenzie, Tennessee after twenty years of loyal service. Dorothy loved to sew and the outdoors. She was a passionate gardener and loved to fish. Leaving behind to cherish her precious memories are her loving daughter, Rochelle Alexander of Martin, Tennessee; sister, Patsy Blakemore of Henry, Tennessee; brothers, James “J. B.” Milam of McKenzie, Tennessee and William “W. C.” Milam, Sr. of Henry, Tennessee and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Dorothy was preceded in death by her mother and father, Nell and George Milam and brothers, O. C. Milam and George Quitman “Billy” Milam. We have been blessed to have you here for a long time.
