Earl Etheridge Adkisson, 85, of Atwood died Saturday, July 13, 2024, at his home. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Wingo Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Bryant Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon on Friday at the church. He was born on August 29, 1938, to the late Ethridge Henry (Doc) and Lottie Hestella Adkisson. A family of two (2) brothers and five (5) sisters. He is preceded in death by Mattie Eugenia (Earl) Taylor and Oscar Priest Adkisson, one brother-in-law David “Geno” Brown and one sister-in-law Lucy C. Taylor. Earl was a graduate of Webb High School in McKenzie, TN. Marriage & Family: Mark 10:9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. On September 18, 1982, he entered his 41-year union with Lurlene Bryant Adkisson until death. He is survived by two children, a son Tim (Daphne) Adkisson of Jackson, TN and a daughter Christie (Dorell) Baugh of Nashville, TN; five grandchildren Cedric Bunch, Leonard Hill, Takayla Adkisson, Kolby Adkisson, and Neely Jordan; four sisters Mabel (Billy) Kelly of Greenfield, TN, Mary Brown of Hopkinsville, KY, Angelene (Robert) Moore of Lexington, KY and Lula Williamson of Detroit, MI; three sisters-in-law Ophelia Adkisson of Racine, WI, Deborah Bryant and Loretta (William) McNary of Atwood, TN; one aunt Evelyn Johnson of Trezevant, TN along with many dear relatives and cherished friends. Faith: Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. Earl Adkisson was a lifelong member of Wingo Missionary Baptist Church, Trezevant, TN where he accepted Christ at an early age. Until his health failed, he was a faithful member. He loved Sunday School and was a member of the male choir. Work: 2 Timothy 4:6-7 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Before his health failed, he loved visiting family, friends, and traveling. He also enjoyed sports and hunting.
