Earnest Strickland

Mr. Earnest Strickland, 74, of South Fulton died Friday, January 24, 2020, at AHC Union City.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Rawls Funeral Home in South Fulton.

He was born on March 5, 1945 in Sardis, Mississippi to the late Robert Lee Strickland and Lena Heard. Earnest attended childhood schools in Sardis Mississippi until he and his family relocated to Memphis, Tennessee. After leaving Memphis, Earnest settled in the Fulton, Kentucky/South Fulton, Tennessee area in the 1960’s where he remained until his death.

Earnest was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed playing cards, listening to music and working on cars – much of which he continued to do until his health began to fail.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Robert Lee Strickland of Sardis, Mississippi; and, Lena Heard of Memphis, Tennessee; one son, Andra Curtis; brothers, Thomas Earl Strickland, and Robert Strickland, Jr.; and one sister, Helen Marie Strickland.

Earnest leaves to cherish his memories his children: Alisha (Vincent) Clark of Bourbonnais, Illinois; Charlotte Hampton of Memphis, Tennessee; Dawn (Sylvester) Hill of Kankakee, Illinois; Katrina Curtis of Stone Mountain, Georgia; Earnest Strickland, Jr., of Kankakee, Illinois; Melissa (Erik) Gardner of Union City, Tennessee; Austin (Faith) Strickland of Martin, Tennessee; Jasmine and Jackie Strickland of Martin, Tennessee; two sisters: Bonnie Virginia Britten of Toledo, Ohio and Gwendolyn (Jerry) Hailey of Southhaven, Mississippi; three brothers: Henry and Charles Strickland of Toledo, Ohio and Allen Keith Strickland of Como, Mississippi; as well as special friends Carla Vibbert of Martin, Tennessee, Jerry Slaten of Union City, Tennessee, and Charles Taylor of Fulton, Kentucky; Jessie Mason, a special son, of Dyersburg, Tennessee; and a special daughter, Amber Vibbert of Union City, Tennessee. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
