Mrs. Edith Stricklin, 73, of Union City died Sunday, August 11, 2013, at Union City Manor Nursing and Rehab Center. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 16, 2013, at New Hope Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Smith officiating. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery.Visitation will be 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday at Rawls Funeral Home.Mrs. Stricklin was born May 8, 1940, in Henning, daughter of the late Josephine Mann. She married LeRoy Stricklin on June 7, 1959, and he survives.She was a member of New Hope Freewill Baptist Church and was president of the local NAACP. She served on the Union City Electric System power board from 1998-2013 and had been a teacher and director at Miles Head Start.In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Charles Stricklin of Lincoln, Ala.; a daughter, Mignon Stricklin of Lincoln; two grandchildren, Chatari Stricklin and Braylonn Stricklin; and a brother, Q.P. Mann of Southfield, Mich.
