Mrs. Effie Mae McElrath, 79, of Union City died Thursday, October 11, 2018, at her residence.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.
She was the only child of the late Otis Trice and the late Lula Belle Frye Trice.
Born in Henderson, Tennessee, she attended school in Brownsville, Tennessee. There she met and married her high school sweetheart, Clifford Anderson. From this union, three children were born, Micheal (Renee) Anderson, Evelyn Anderson Bass and the late Marcell Anderson Harris, all of Union City, Tennessee. Years later, she married the late Charlie McElrath, from which six children were born, Jerome (Mary) McElrath of Clarksville, Tennessee, Daniel McElrath, Paul McElrath, Dwayne and Kwanna McElrath, all of Union City, Tennessee and Sharon McElrath of Jackson, Tennessee. She relocated to Union City, Tennessee where she joined Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and was an active member for over forty years. Also, she was employed by Obion County General Hospital until retirement, after which she became a home maker.
She leaves to cherish her memories twenty-seven grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; a special friend of the family, Gloria Easley along with a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Charlie McElrath; two sons, Marcell Anderson Harris and Willie (Frank) McElrath; a grandson, Anthony Smith and a granddaughter, Melissa Wiley.
