Mr. Elbert Jack Vaughn, 82, of South Fulton died Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Services will be held at noon on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Greater Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Greenlea Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
He was born on February 18, 1943, Elbert lived a full and blessed life marked by hard work, faith, and devotion to his family.
Elbert was a proud graduate of the 1961 Rosenwald High school class.
Elbert was a proud retiree of Goodyear, where he worked diligently until his retirement in 1994. A man of great character and kindness, Elbert was known for his warm smile, easy laughter, and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
He was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Stella Vaughn, with whom he shared 52 wonderful years. Together they built a home filled with love, faith, and laughter. Elbert found great joy in spending time with his family, fishing, playing cards, cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events, and relaxing with friends at Vaughn’s Grill, one of his favorite gathering places.
A faithful member of Greater Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Elbert served faithfully on the Usher Board and worked diligently behind the scenes as the church’s sound technician. His commitment to serving the Lord and his community was evident in all that he did.
Elbert leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Stella Vaughn; his children Jeffrey Vaughn (Debbie), Anthony Scott Vaughn (Keshia), and Travonda Vaughn; his great aunt Aletha Patterson and great uncle Herbert Johnson; his siblings Ben Vaughn, Marvin Vaughn, Rev. Erving Vaughn (Sandra), Harvey Vaughn, and Elwanda Vaughn; grandchildren Donyee Cavitt, Terris Grandison, Ryan Vaughn, Janay Vaughn, Ania Phillips, Andre’ Phillips, Kaylin Epps, Kiara Roberson, Dwight Roberson, and Skylah Vaughn; and great-grandchildren Kylan Vaughn, Aveion Wilson, Ayson Wilson, Jaylon Vaughn, Azair Phillips, A’lani Phillips, Khyran Grandison, Geonni Grandison, Deneve Cavitt, Kataleya Phelps and Keilani Phelps. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
Elbert was preceded in death by his parents, Berthal Wade and Jack Vaughn, his stepdaughter Kimberly Cavitt, and his sister Princess Ray.
Elbert’s life was a beautiful example of faith, love, and perseverance. His legacy of kindness, laughter, and devotion will continue to live on through all who knew and loved him. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
