Elder Dr. Charles Robert Moody, Sr., 77, of South Fulton died Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at his residence.
Dr. Moody is a former city commissioner and vice mayor of South Fulton.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Jacksonville Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. James Watford officiating.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
He was born on March 15, 1936, to the late Rev. Willie Cab “W.C.” and Cordelia L. (Morris) Moody in Fulton, Kentucky.
He was married to the late Katie
M. (Gary) Moody.
He was a member of Jacksonville Freewill Baptist Church, served twelve years as a city commissioner, one term as vice mayor, a volunteer firefighter, was a elder in the Freewill Baptist Church and pastored churches in Kentucky and Missouri.
He was affectionately known as "Chuck Boy" to family and friends. He also was called "Chazzy Chuck" from his days as a disc jockey.
He leaves to celebrate his life daughters, Karen K. “Kay Kay” Moody and Cordelia L. “Dee Dee” Golden; a step-son, Mardie Young; a son-in-law, Lance C. Golden; a daughter-in-law, Angela Barber-Young; grandchildren, Christopher L. Moody, Chyna L. Golden, Lance C. Golden Jr., Mardie Young, Jr., Amari S. Young and Prejhette N. Young; sisters, Pauline Moody and Ima Lou Moody; sisters-in-law, Harriet Moody and Carol Moody; special friend, Hazel Hicks and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his son Charles Robert “Bubba” Moody, Jr., two brothers, Rev. James H. Moody, Sr. and Aaron T. Moody, Sr. and a sister, Margaret Moody.
