Mrs. Eva Mae Cooper, 82, of Union City died Thursday, January 1, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2015, at New Hope Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the church.
Eva Mae Cooper was born to the late Virginia Mallory Evans and the late Charlie Banks on August 20, 1932.
She was a faithful member of New Hope Freewill Baptist Church and it was her church home for her lifetime. She served faithfully and dutifully on the Usher Board for many years until her body began to tire and she resigned in 2013. She also served faithfully on the Missionary as secretary for numerous years until she resigned in 2014.
She was preceded in death by her husband, E. Z. Cooper; her mother, Virginia Evans; her father, Charlie Banks and a son, Jerry Cooper.
She leaves to cherish her memories a loving daughter, Gwendolyn Dysart of Union City, Tennessee; a son, Earnest Daniels of Union City, Tennessee; a son, James Davis of Union City, Tennessee; a daughter, Linda Guy of East St. Louis, Illinois; a daughter, Brenda Cooper of Belleville, Illinois and she was “Mother” to many other children of the city. She also leaves behind twenty grandchildren; forty great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
