Ms. Evickiette Lawson, 51, of Union City died Sunday, September 20, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2015, at Brown Chapel AME Church with Rev. Clay Holiday officiating. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 12 p.m. on Saturday at the church.
Evickiette Lawson was born on April 20, 1964, the daughter of Margaret Major and Henry Moses, Jr.
Evickiette grew up as a military child. Most of her childhood was in Biloxi, Mississippi with her mother and stepfather, Donald Major. She was a member of Brown Chapel AME Church.Evickiette is survived by her loving mother, Margaret Major of Union City, Tennessee; two daughters, Whittney Smith and Kayla Watson of Union City, Tennessee; six sisters, Otondaetta Felton (Wayne) of Union City, Tennessee, Arisa Ashley (Melvin) of Jackson, Tennessee, Ella Moses of Smyrna, Tennessee, Tiereney Muhammad of Houston, Texas and Jaton Major and Cassandra Major of Las Vegas, Nevada; four brothers, Reggie Caldwell (Tracie) of Washington, Ronald Major of California, Cedric Major of Missouri and Emeka Moses of Johnson, City, Tennessee; four grandsons, all of Union City, Tennessee; aunt, Lucy Duncan (Gerald) of Georgia; a host of nieces and nephews; five god daughters and a host of other relatives and friends. Evickiette had five special friends, Glen Watson, Juanita Slayton, Sheryl Reaves, Marilyn Roneali and Dianne Adams.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Orlando and Virginia (Huff) Thompson, Ada L. King and Henry Lee Moses, Sr.; her father, Henry Moses, Jr.; her stepfather, Donald Major and one brother, Henry Moses, III.
