Mrs. Flossie Thomas, 83, of Union City died Thursday, October 1, 2015, at Martin Health Care. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 10, 2015, at Greater Bethel Church of God In Christ. Internment will follow in East View Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Flossie L. Thomas was born in Hickman, Kentucky on July 30, 1932 to the late Condra Caldwell, Sr. and Ruby Smith Caldwell. She accepted Christ in her life and was a faithful member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, where the Arthur Turner is Pastor. She was an active member of the church and served as one of the Church Mothers, an Usher on the Usher Board, and Treasurer of the Benevolence Fund, until her health began to decline. Flossie enjoyed reading the newspaper, working word search puzzles, traveling and baking. She had her own little baking service in the community and everyone enjoyed her jam & caramel cakes and other baking goods. She was the first African American Sales Lady in downtown Union City Libby’s Women Store for over 45 years. Preceding her in death were her parents, Condra and Ruby Caldwell and her daughter, Toni Thomas Nicholson. She was one of eleven siblings, in which eight preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish two sons, Jackie (Marie) Thomas of Martin, Tennessee, and Wayne (Cozella) Thomas of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and one daughter, Debra (Josh) Johnson of Springfield Missouri. She leaves eight grandchildren: Tennille King, Jaclyn Marshall, Andre’ Jackson, Jamie Clark, Brittney Vann, Frank Jackson, LaBrock Thomas and Kalesha Johnson; and eight great grandchildren: Mahryion, Angel, Hayden, Heaven, Brennon, Christian, Braedon and Kylan. She will be missed by her brothers, Norman (Hazel) of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Roy Lee Caldwell of Union City, Tennessee. She also leaves to cherish a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.       Rawls Funeral Home – Union City 731-885-8110
