Mr. Frank Thomas, Jr., 79, of South Fulton died Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.Services will be held at noon on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Greenlea Cemetery. Visitation will held on Friday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church. He was born to the late Frank Thomas, Sr. and Josie Lee Thomas.  He graduated from Riverside High School in Hickman, KY.  He was united in holy matrimony to Ruby Jean Lockett for 57 years.  Frank was employed by Reed Brothers Feed and Seed Co,, the United Postal Service, Sherwin Williams, Hadley’s, Martin Tool and Die and later became the founder and owner of Thomas Plating Co., Inc. for thirty years. Frank was a faithful member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, South Fulton where he served as a Trustee, a member of the Men’s Sunday School Class, a member of the finance committee, and a member of the Northwest Laymen of Obion River District Association. He managed a winning Twin Cities Little League baseball team for more than ten years.  He was one of the founding members of the “Soul Brother’s Club”, and an active member of the Political Action Committee of NAACP. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Josie Thomas; two brothers Edgar Lee “Jack” Johnson (Vernell) and Joe Williams (Doris), and one granddaughter, Raylee Mercer. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of fifty-seven years, Ruby Lockett Thomas; one son, Gregory Frank Thomas (Irene); one daughter, Sherri Thomas Mercer (Rev. Mercer), four grandchildren, Dr. Phillip Michael Thomas (Hali), Matthew Blair Thomas, Zacharias Frank Mercer, and Marvin Mercer, Jr.; two great grandchildren, Payton Dior Mercer and Grayson Carter Mercer; one brother Thomas Jewel Johnson (Connie) of El Paso, TX; three sister-in-laws Roberta Collins, Helen Patterson, and Mattie Sue Lockett, one brother in law, Billy Lockett and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins.
