Fred William Tharpe,Sr.

Mr. Fred Tharpe, Sr., 74, of Paris died Thursday, April 03, 2014, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at Rawls Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Carter officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.  He was born October 9, 1939, in Mansfield, he was a son of the late Grant and Floya Teague Tharpe. His wife, Mayola Crutchfield Tharpe, survives. They were married on Aug. 19, 1959 He was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church. After retiring from Emerson Electric, Tharpe had worked for the Henry County Sheriff’s Department until failing health. He was a member of Confidence Masonic Lodge 17. He also leaves six children: Patricia (Robert) Tharpe and Donnie (Sonya) Tharpe, both of Paris, Shelia (Ronnie) Tharpe of Virginia, Fred W. (Lutrecia) Tharpe Jr. of LaVergne, Timmy (Kitty) Tharpe of Brownsville and Richard Wilkins of Chicago; one nephew; 18 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.He also was preceded in death by a son: Michael D.
