Mr. Frelon Cross, Jr., 77, of Union City died Sunday, December 25, 2016, at Humboldt General Hospital.
Services will be held at noon on Saturday, December 31, 2016, at Greater Bethel Church of God in Christ. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, December 30, 2016,from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Greater Bethel Church of God in Christ.
Frelon Cross Jr. was born in Obion County Tennessee on September 19, 1939 to the Frelon (Pete) Cross Sr. and the Ida Lou (Tihsworth) Cross.
In 1957, Frelon graduated from Miles High School and later enlisted in the Army after his honorable discharge he began his life in Minneapolis Minnesota where he worked at Dana Corp. as a warehouse associate. He was also the manager of the Pillsbury Waite House (Boys and Girls Club) in Minneapolis Minnesota.
Frelon was a gifted athlete that played in Negro League along side of Willie Mays and Satchel Paige and was later inducted into the Negro League Hall of Fame. While in Minnesota he was also inducted in the Softball Hall of Fame for a total of 1,440 home runs. Frelon Cross also known as a professional bowler in the BBC Circuit.
He was proceeded in death by his sister Frances Batey and Ida May Smith.
Frelon leaves to cherish his memories his son Frelon (Champ) Cross III, daughters Melissa Martin, Annette Cross a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, coworkers and loving friends.
