Mr. Henry Lee Brooks, Jr., 55, of Union City died Thursday, January 1, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.
Henry Lee Brooks Jr was born on July 19, 1970, in Union City, TN to the late Henry Lee Brooks Sr. and Rosie Lee Mitchell (Harris). He attended Union City High School and was employed by Dometic in Cookeville TN.
Henry was a beloved man known for his humor and love of life. His humility was as noteworthy as his tenacity and dedication to his family. When diagnosed with prostate cancer, Henry was determined to beat cancer, and he did just that. After a lengthy battle, Henry was proudly declared a cancer survivor earlier this year. Henry was affectionately known to many as Unc, Pops, PawPaw, etc. He leaves behind a legacy and memories that will be cherished for many years to come
He is survived by his two sisters, Teketa (James) Marshall of Union City and Cheryl Reeves; three brothers, Jeremy Brooks, Carnell Brooks, and Travis (Jawanna) Talley; three sons and one daughter Michael (Carla) Smith, Dominique Stiles, Lakevius Turner, and Tanika Storey, ten grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends as close as family.
He was preceded in death by his son Demarcus Michael Alexander Brooks, his brother Patrick Mitchell.
Visitation for Henry is scheduled for Friday, January 9, 2026, from 5 pm to 7 pm at McPhearson- Rawls Funeral Home. The funeral is scheduled for Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 1pm at Brown Chapel AME Church. A visitation will also be held at noon on Saturday at the church.
Pallbearers will be Travis Talley, Jeremy Brooks, Quentin Perry, Tony Clark, Dean Wilkins, and Nikkiel Brooks. The honorary pallbearer is James Marshall.
