Mr. James Robert Avery, 60, of Tiptonville died Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Regional Hospital of Jackson.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 11, 2014, at St. John # 3 Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Burnett officiating. Interment will following in Citizens Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the church.
He was born January 10, 1954, to the proud parents of James Henry Avery and Mattie Elnora Avery in Tiptonville, Tennessee.
He accepted Christ at a young age at St. John #3 Missionary Baptist Church.
He retired from Excel and was a member of the National Guard.
He leaves to mourn his wife, Linda Avery; his children, Charles Ryan Avery, Shannon Avery, CaShannon Scott and Carita Scott; a godchild, Cavon M. Avery; his siblings, Charles Fisher, Linda Avery (Henry) Clay, Wanda Avery Smith, Patty Avery (Jerry) Ward, Bryan Keith Avery, Veronica Avery Cadney, Kevin Ray (Lori) Avery, Jerri Michelle Avery, Tammy (Eric) Hubbard and Junorie Avery; three aunts; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Henry Avery and Mattie Elnora Avery; his first wife, Leither V. Avery; one nephew, Tevin M. Avery and one great niece, Amaya S. Avery Simmons.
