Mr. James “Big Apple” Stanley Barton, 62, of Union City died Friday, April 29, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2011, at Exchange Street Church of Christ with Graham McGill will officiating. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. at the church on Friday.
He was born December 20, 1948, in Union City, son of the late Allie Mae (Cavitt) and Bell Barton Jr. He was married to the former Annie Richmond, who survives, and was a retired employee of Union City Public Works. He was a 1968 graduate of the former Miles High School in Union City and was president of the Miles High School Alumni Association. A U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of Vine Street Church of Christ in Union City.
Survivors include three children, Angelic Barton, Stanley Barton and Corey Brooks; nine stepchildren, Anthony Ware, Willie Ware Jr., Stephanie Ware, Charlotte Ware, Cynthia Ware, James Pirtle, Racheal Pirtle, Kalisha Hockett and Jerome Brandon Richmond; his sister, Taffy Escober; several grandchildren; his aunt, Helen Slayton; and his uncle, Bobby Barton.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Mae (Pirtle) Barton.
