James Aubrey Bishop, born on September 25, 1966, in Hickman, Kentucky, passed away on August 1, 2025, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, leaving a legacy of wisdom, laughter, and love. A proud graduate of Fulton County High School, class of 1984, James always cherished the importance of education and imparted life lessons to those around him throughout his life.

James was known for his personality, characterized by a deep well of wisdom, advice, and encouragement. He had a remarkable ability to share laughter and impart life lessons, making a profound impact on the lives of many who were fortunate enough to know him. A passionate Dallas Cowboys fan, he celebrated the joys of life with enthusiasm and dedication.

He is survived by his beloved mother, Shirley Nicholson, and his three children: son Tyler (Kayla) Bishop, daughter Genevlyn Bishop, and daughter Tere-ka Bishop. James took immense pride in being a grandfather to Tate, Tydus, and Kira Bishop, who brought him endless joy and happiness. Additionally, he cherished his special niece, Tere'ka King Smith, and was blessed with the love of his siblings: sisters Genevlyn (Charles) Ceaser, Tonda (Lawrence) Emerson, Phoebe Bishop, Trena Mason, Elizabeth Everton, Christie (Darwin) Windham, Tina Scott, and LaShunda (Richard) Jones; and brothers Gary Bishop, Frederick (Julie) Bishop, Oscar (Denise) Bishop, Julius Bishop, Greg Bishop, Charlie Bishop, Gearld (Robin) Bishop Clark, and Joel Cheirs.

James was preceded in death by his father, Oscar B. Bishop, and brother Robert Bishop, as well as sister Angela Bishop-Brown.

A visitation in honor of James will be held on August 9, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at the Anointed Church of The Living God, located at 1211 South Miles Avenue, Union City, TN 38261.

As we remember James Aubrey Bishop, let us celebrate a man who was not only a devoted family member and friend but also a source of inspiration to all who crossed his path. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
