James Ivy Estes, 67, of Hickman died Sunday, May 7, 2023, at Baptist Health in Paducah.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Brooks Chapel Kingdom Harvest Church. Interment will follow in Hickman City Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at noon on Saturday at the church.
He was born October 21, 1955, to the late James Estes, Sr and the late Inez Estes. James was known for his big smile and love for laughter. He enjoyed writing poetry, cruising through the town on his lawnmower, and spending time with his sisters. James was an active member of Brooks Chapel Ministries. He loved his Pastor, Dr. Jesse Webb, who became a budding father figure in his life.
James is survived by his wife Betty Estes, his children Quartez Harris (Shera) & Kirk Barnett, his sisters Narsis Colen, Diane McGlechie, Ella Mae Smith (Ocie), Janice Gilbert (Carl), Vanessa Jones (Mathis), Helen Mayes (Tony), his grandchildren Khalil Frame (Jayce) & Amila Harris, & great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and extended family.
James's mischievousness, corny jokes, big smile, contagious laughter, and the ability to always find a way to be the first one to eat will be greatly missed. James’ life will be forever cherished in the lives of his family and his memory will never be forgotten.
James is preceded in death by his father, mother, half-brother; William “Trigga” Cobb and sister; Alice Mae.
