James Jones, Sr.

Mr. James "Rick" Jones, Sr., 64, of Martin, TN died Sunday, August 24, 2025, Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Peters, MO.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at McCabe United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Parham Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at noon on Saturday at the church.

James Roderick Jones, Sr., affectionately known as “Rick,” was born on June 3, 1961, in Martin, Tennessee, to Gene and Shirley Jones. He was the fourth child born to this union. He was preceded in death by his beloved brothers, Valiant Jones and Timothy Jones.

Rick accepted Christ at an early age and received his education in St. Louis, Missouri. He later married Patricia Booker and worked faithfully for over 15 years at Chrysler, as well as at Exclusive Car Care. In 1977, he returned to St. Louis, where he lived for 35 years and was a dedicated member of Parks Chapel Methodist Church under the leadership of Pastor Smith.

In 2012, Rick returned to his hometown of Martin, Tennessee, where he spent his later years surrounded by family and friends. He dearly loved his children and grandchildren, who were the joy of his life: Jahrae N. Jones, James R. Jones III, James R. Jones IV, and Jaliyah A. Jones. He also cherished Roland Hampton, Phil Moore, and Brenda Turner of St. Louis, Missouri. Rick enjoyed cooking fish and barbecue, gathering with loved ones, and lending a helping hand to anyone in need.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted father, Gene Jones; loving aunt, Linda Davis; siblings, Lajill Jones of Martin, TN, Ifonda Jones, grandchildren, Jahrae N. Jones, James R. Jones IV, James R. Jones III, Jaliyah A. Jones, Roland Hampton, Phil Moore, and Brenda Turner of St. Louis Missouri. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will continue to honor his life and celebrate his memory
