James Leroy Mcdonald

February 5, 1935 — February 10, 2012

Mr. James Leroy McDonald, 80, of Martin died Friday, February 10, 2012, at his residence. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at Fuller Street Baptist Church in Dresden with Revs. DeVon Cunningham and Leroy Brent officiating. Interment will follow in Parham Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the church. He accepted Jesus as his personal savior and united at McCabe Temple United Methodist Church. He later moved his membership to Progressive Missionary Baptist Church and later to Fuller Street Baptist Church where he remained a member until his death. He felt to be a real man, he should take unto himself a wife and over sixty years ago he was married to Patricia Morton and they lived happily together until his death. He loved his home, was a good husband, a kind father, a quiet neighbor, a law-abiding citizen and a man you’d be pleased to know but regardless of our work or vocation in life, when our appointed time comes, we must go and we who are left behind have only to do the biddings of Christ and can follow on and join him in that land where we will part no more. He leaves to cherish their memories a devoted wife, Patricia; four children, two sons, Kenneth of Detroit, Michigan and James Leroy Jr. (Penny) of Martin, Tennessee and two daughters, Darlene (Tim) Patton of Jackson, Tennessee and Dierdre (James) Scott of Martin, Tennessee; one “adopted” daughter, Laura Phelps of Martin, Tennessee; one brother, Gary Busby of Lansing, Michigan; two sisters, Ora Lee (Marvin) Irvine of Detroit, Michigan and Susie (William) Hall of Lansing, Michigan; two sisters-in-law, Elise (Emmitt) Gatson of Detroit, Michigan and Dorothy (Phillip) Morton of Springfield, Tennessee; twelve grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Edgar and Jesse Harrell and a host of relatives and friends.
