James C. Thomas

Mr. James C. Thomas, 79, of Puryear died Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at AHC Paris.

Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2020, at Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Mr. James Cravens Thomas, affectionately known as Jim, was born March 14, 1941 to his loving late parents, Clarence and Annie Cravens Thomas, in Whitlock, Tennessee.

Jim was reared and educated in the Paris-Henry County School System, graduating Central High School Class of 1959.

In 1963, Jim joined the United States Army serving active duties for several years, which included a tour of Germany. Also in 1963, Jim married his childhood sweetheart, the late Clara Mae Henry Thomas, to this union two daughters were born.

Jim was a member of Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church, singing in the choir and serving on the Usher Board. Jim retired from Tennessee Valley Authority and from Tennessee Army National Guard. He loved working on cars, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, spending time with family and friends, and listen to Blues music.

Jim later was married to the late Jenner V. Barber.

Jim leaves to cherish his memories, daughters: Renee (Michael) Anderson of Union City, Tennessee and RaMona (Tim Martin) Thomas of Hendersonville, Tennessee; grandson: Channing Anderson of Union City, Tennessee; brother; Larry(Mary) Thomas of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a sister; Linda Thomas of Suitland, Maryland, sisters-in-law; Lola Henry of Paris Tennessee, and Mary Littleton of Jackson, Tennessee; nephews; Gary and Anthony Thomas; nieces; Pamela (Kevin) Kohlmeier and Pamela Henry (Bobby) Knight; seven stepdaughters; Janet McKinney, Rhonda Genesy, Bridgett Ward Pamela Barber, LaSonya Barber, Gloria Jenkins and Pam Pettis and several great nieces, great nephews extended family and friends
