Janice Mcclain

November 30, 1947 — September 8, 2016

Mrs. Janice Payne McClain, 68, of Paris died Thursday, September 8, 2016, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Services will be held at noon on Thursday, September 15, 2016, at Cedar Hill Missionary Baptist Church with Rev Kenneth Humphreys officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Rawls Funeral Home. Janice “Faye” Payne McClain was born November 30, 1947, to the late Zeb and Ezell Payne of Henry County, Tennessee. Janice professed a faith in Christ at an early age at Quinn Chapel AME Church. She later united with Cedar Hill Missionary Baptist Church with her husband. Janice was a devoted Christian who worked diligently as Kitchen Manager, Financial Secretary and Director of Youth Ministry at Cedar Hill. Janice was a retiree of the Henry County School System, she taught at Puryear and Lakewood Schools. She served as President of the Henry County Education Association and was a member of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. She was known throughout the county as a “Great Cook”. She exhibited her skills in numerous church activities and family gatherings. She displayed a great love of family and friends and loved to entertain and cook. Janice was united in Holy Matrimony to Wendell McClain on July 21, 1989. To this union five children were nurtured, Timothy (Patricia) Crutchfield of Jacksonville, Florida, Steve (Tawania) McClain of Hartsville, Tennessee, Nicholas McClain of Madison, Tennessee, Todd (Heather) McClain of Clarksville, Tennessee and Kimberly McClain of Milan, Tennessee. She also leaves two brothers, Robert (Elizabeth) Payne of Niceville, Florida and Curtis (Latieter) Payne of Cordova, Tennessee; three sisters, Shirley McGhee of Buchanan, Tennessee and Freddie Williams and Wanda (Devester) Todd of Paris, Tennessee; three devoted young ladies whom she loved as daughters, D’Meshia Dumas, Lisa Armstrong and Shekia “Kitty” Allen; seven grandchildren and a host of other friends and relatives who mourn her passing.
