Mr. J.B. Tate, 85, of Union City died Saturday, June 16, 2018, at The Waters of Union City.Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Greater Victory Freewill Baptist Church. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery.Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the church. On October 30, 1929, J. B. Tate was born to the union of Rev. Johnnie and Louvina (Walker) Tate in Caruthersville, MO. He was preceded in death by his wives, Leonteen Tate and Ernestine Tate; a son, Vander Mayfield; parents, Rev. Johnnie and Louvina Tate and a brother, Lewis Tate. He served in the United States Army; he retired from the United States Postal Service in Chicago and Northwest Tennessee Human Resource Agency in Union City. J.B. was a faithful member of Greater Victory Freewill Baptist Church. He served as Sunday School Superintendent and president of the Deacon Board. He leaves to cherish his memories a daughter, Gladys (Eddie) Hilliard, two sons, Andre Marbles and Derrick Marbles; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; four sisters in law; three brothers in law; special cousins, Bobby and Regina Vinson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
